Ruby red shrimp, hot pink sunsets, sugary white sand beaches, dolphins swimming alongside our boat and bird-banding are a few highlights of my recent trip to Gulf Shores-Orange Beach, Alabama.
Early one morning in the woods, passionate birders weighing, measuring, checking body fat and banding the birds on their southern migration gave us a close-up look.
On the Intracoastal Waterway, we watched dolphins dive and surface alongside our pontoon boat while our pilot scooped up oysters, crabs, and shrimp to show us how they are harvested.
A short flight in a 1928 bi-plane reminiscent of the Wright brothers – sitting in an open cockpit wearing a leather cap and goggles – took us out over the water, beach and hotels.
One balmy evening, we took a sunset cruise on a catamaran complete with wine and appetizers, and dolphins in the distance.
A fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico, 15 miles out from shore on a 62-foot boat offered non-stop fishing -- trigger fish, grouper and lots of red snapper – and our catch served for dinner.
With condos galore, hotels right on the beach and plenty of outdoor activities, Gulf Shores-Orange Beach is a great vacation spot.
Really like what you wrote.....but go into a bit more detail.....like you're writing an artical.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying your blog. The bird pics are especially beautiful. And the sunrise/sunsets are spectacular. We are heading to central Florida Thursday to visit friends. At some point we want to go to the Everglades and on to Key West. Maybe you could give us some pointers on where you stayed and what you did while traveling down that way.
See you soon at Hanna.
